Guitar Amplifiers FAQ
Common questions about our guitar amplifier selection - the boutique and vintage brands we carry, and where to play them.
Where can I buy a boutique guitar amplifier near Boston?
The Music Emporium in Lexington, Massachusetts - about 20 minutes from downtown Boston - carries one of the deepest boutique and vintage guitar amplifier selections in New England.
From our showroom we keep amps in stock from builders like Carr, Two-Rock, Divided by 13, Benson, Swart, Victoria, and Magnatone, and players travel from across the region to compare them side by side.
What guitar amplifier brands does The Music Emporium carry?
We are an authorized dealer for the boutique amp brands we stock, including Carr, Two-Rock, Divided by 13, Benson, Swart, Victoria, Magnatone, Fryette, Milkman, Decker, TopHat, and AER, alongside Fender and a rotating selection of vintage amplifiers.
Being an authorized dealer means full manufacturer warranties and direct access to current models and custom orders.
What is a boutique guitar amplifier?
A boutique amplifier is built in small numbers by a specialist maker, typically hand-wired with higher-grade components and a focus on tone and feel rather than mass production.
Builders like Carr, Two-Rock, and Divided by 13 are prized for point-to-point construction, premium transformers, and a responsiveness that many players find hard to get from large-scale production amps.
Do you carry vintage and used guitar amplifiers?
Yes. Alongside new amps we regularly stock vintage and used amplifiers, including vintage Fender and other classic American and British amps. Each used and vintage amp is inspected and serviced by our team before it is listed, and condition is described clearly.
Can I try guitar amplifiers in person before buying?
Yes. Our showroom at 165 Massachusetts Ave. in Lexington, MA is set up for players to compare amps side by side, and our staff can help you match an amp to your guitars and playing style. We are open Monday through Friday 11am–5pm and Saturday 10am–5pm.
Can I trade in or sell my guitar amplifier?
Yes. We buy and accept trades on quality guitar amplifiers. You can start the process through the "Sell or Trade" form on our site, and our team will follow up with an evaluation.
