The Swart Atomic Space Tone (AST) has rightfully earned a reputation as one of the most dimensional, expressive, and soulful tube amps on the market. From studio sessions to club stages and intimate living rooms, the AST’s harmonic richness, dynamic breakup, and lush tube-driven reverb and tremolo set a new standard. Many players even hailed it as the best amp they’d ever played, no small feat in a world filled with boutique and vintage classics.
Soon after, Swart introduced a limited-run AST head, maintaining the original circuit in a head format for those needing flexibility. Demand skyrocketed, and the first batch sold out in just 45 days. Since then, requests for a refined, full-production version have never stopped—so Swart answered with the AST Head MkII.
The AST Head MkII builds on the magic of the original, now with 4/8/16 ohm impedance selection, the ability to run 6V6 or 6L6 tubes, and a dedicated, fully bypassable tube-stage master volume that preserves the AST’s legendary tone at any level. Its handwired, star-grounded circuit is housed in a finger-jointed solid wood cabinet, wrapped in lacquered tweed for a timeless, roadworthy aesthetic.
