"Together, our approach of handcrafted, well designed guitars in modern pop culture has fully developed. The inspiration of vintage design cues and experimental, open minded features lead to our main objective: We want to give a tool of great appearance, perfect playability, and inspiring possibilities."
~ Frank Deimel & Kora Jünger
Founded by Frank Deimel in Berlin in 1998, Deimel Guitarworks is the kind of small, fiercely original shop that the European boutique scene does particularly well.
Frank started building as a teenager and has been at the bench for more than two decades; his partner Kora Jünger joined the operation in 2007, and the two now build every Deimel by hand from their shop in the Märkische Schweiz nature reserve, about 40 km east of Berlin.
The lineup centers on the Firestar (an offset original inspired by Jazzmaster lineage, with extended string sections, experimental electronics, and the option of Frank's PickupLesLee® system), the Doublestar and Singlestar (compact, Les Paul-adjacent designs), the Firestar Bass, and the ongoing Firestar Artist Edition series with artwork by Kora. Players including Lee Ranaldo, Adam Miller, and Bryce Dessner have made Deimels part of their working rigs.
The Music Emporium has carried Deimel guitars for years, including collaborations that don't appear in many other shops. Frank and Kora build at their own pace, and the guitars that land here tend to find their players quickly.
