This Antares is done in the style of the often overlooked but very vibey Univox U-102 combo. We love the look of those amps, and we know we share that affinity with Michael Swart.
The Swart Antares has recently been updated with a great Master Volume and a small cab option. It sounds just as incredible as its bigger brother in the larger cab format, and it's a perfect option for someone wanting a smaller form factor.
Paired up with a Celestion Creamback 12" speaker, you're rewarded with tight low end response, robust midrange, and a smooth top end - a modern classic ceramic speaker quite frankly. This is a tighter, more focused sounding speaker than the Ruby Alnico, and has a bit more punch and authority at volume comparatively. Having a bit of the British flavor in the Celestion paired with a harmonically-rich 6V6 driven amp afford lots of versatility in a compact and powerful package.
From Swart:
"Take some of our favorite qualities from the MOD84 and mix it with some of our favorite takes from the AST with that venerable 6V6/6L6 3D holographic, ethereal voodoo... What do you get? Frankly, it's like no other Swart while being like EVERY Swart. It's the ANTARES and we are smitten with this beast."
Featuring twin, push-pull 6V6 with a bit bigger reverb, deeper bottom-end foundation, with a new custom output transformer borrowed from the MOD84 Lineage, the Antares also sports Swart's killer three-way EQ and an all pine cab (with tilted back baffle). Toss in the AST's tube bias tremolo and you have the makings of a very cool amp!
(And yes, it has top mounted controls for easy access!)
