1956 Fender 5F2 Princeton just in on consignment!
This is about as clean an example of a Tweed era Princeton as we've ever encountered, and we're thrilled to have it here in the shop!
Completed in July of 1956, this transitional Princeton features the larger narrow panel cabinet and desirable 5F2 circuitry (despite the use of an earlier 5E2 tube chart). It recently accompanied an equally clean early 1957 Fender Telecaster into the shop, both of which were purchased together by their original owner.
These 5F2 Princetons deliver 4-5 watts of single-ended 6V6 tone out like a baby Deluxe, giving up that great low volume chime and mid-volume grind at friendlier levels. The 8" speaker keeps things tight and raunchy when pushed as well.
Other than a recent recap, 3 prong cable, and replacement speaker, the amp is entirely original throughout. The Tweed covering shows very little wear and the grill cloth is clean and tight. The chrome plating of the chassis still has that mirror-like shine, and all of the lettering is clean and strong.
What else can we say? It's a remarkable sounding time capsule quality Tweed Fender!
