One of the more uniquely designed amplifiers to come out of the boutique boom of the mid/late 90s was David Zimmerman's Maven Peal amps. Based off of classic vintage circuits while integrating some high-grade component selection and progressive power scaling/attenuation design, Maven Peal brought fresh and exciting ideas to the table.
The Zeeta model at its core represents David's concept of expanding the voice and versatility of the legendary 5E3 Deluxe circuit. Built on both an EL84 and octal 6V6/6L6 platform, they maintain a more simplistic topology but allow for some surprisingly advanced tone shaping. We find the latter style circuit here, in this Zeeta "Silver" combo.
Built circa 2003, this is a great example of the 1x12 combo configuration in the clear lacquer finished heavy duty pine cabinet. Using the Sag and Wattage controls - a signature pair of features unique to the model - you've got excellent control over the power amp stage. The toroidal power transformer is tied into the variable wattage control, providing continual voltage adjustment that reduces the overall power output. Used in conjunction with the Sag control, cranked amp feel can be finely tuned in a way few amps could in their time.
The amp was just in for servicing, which included a replacement rheostat for the Wattage control, along with installation of a Celestion Alnico Cream speaker for some higher-efficiency alnico sweetness. The overall condition of the amp is great - the pine cabinet has held up quite well due to low playing hours on the amp and near-exclusive home and studio use. It has also been kept in its original ATA case, which is included in the sale. There's some wear on the underside of the cabinet, and various small nicks and indentations in the wood, but overall the amp is clean and structurally sound.
**Please Note: This amp will be shipped in its original ATA case unboxed.**
