“When designing a circuit to produce a certain type of sound, I try to dig past the decades of marketing hype to pursue the greater truths and get back to the origin of a particular tone.”
~ Simon Keats
Founded in 2012 from a quest to bring studio-grade tone to the pedalboard, Origin Effects saw founder Simon Keats reverse-engineer the iconic 1176 studio compressor into a stompbox (the original Cali76).
Now based in Buckingham, England, they hand-build gear like the RevivalDRIVE and BASSRIG with obsessive attention to detail so that every pedal delivers the clarity and character of classic studio gear - packaged for players, not racks.

Studio-Class Tone, Pedalboard-Ready
Each Origin pedal is driven by tech born in the studio (like custom compressor circuits) but optimized for guitarists. They bring pro-level tone into everyday playing.
Engineer’s Obsession with Tone
Simon Keats forged his path through electronics giants like Korg and Focusrite - but started Origin Effects to chase those hair-raising tones he'd heard on classic records. He’s out to reclaim those “Origins of Tone” with pedals that go beyond nostalgia.
Handbuilt in the UK - By Players, For Players
Every unit leaves their Buckingham workshop hand-assembled and listen-tested. The team behind each pedal shares your obsession - and builds to match it.
