"I have grown to understand that I am not an artist. I am a craftsman making tools for artists, and the music is the art."
~ Will Kimble (via the fretboardjournal.com)
Will Kimble has long since moved beyond being “another builder making Loar copies” into a voice all his own. Mentored by his father Fred and guided by the legendary Lynn Dudenbostel, Will honed his craft with equal parts reverence for tradition and a willingness to refine it.
His mandolins embody everything we love about the form - power, clarity, and that unmistakable bell-like ring - while also carrying subtle design touches that feel fresh without straying from the Loar-era sensibility.
In our eyes, Will is one of the finest builders working today, which is exactly why we’re proud to represent his instruments.

True Rarity
Will builds in very small numbers, giving each instrument his full attention. That scarcity makes every Kimble mandolin not just a superb player’s instrument, but also a special piece of modern mandolin building at its finest.
A Distinctive Voice
Kimble mandolins are celebrated for their power and projection, yet they never lose clarity or warmth. That “bell-like” quality in the highs paired with strong fundamentals makes them equally suited for bluegrass drive or lyrical solo work.
Golden-Era Inspiration, Modern Execution
Will’s work draws directly from the Loar-era F-5s, but he refines those designs with a modern luthier’s precision. The result is a mandolin that captures the best of tradition while playing and sounding fresh for today’s musicians.
