Some guitars are so cemented in our collective "guitar mind" that they need no introduction - the legendary Gibson L-5 is certainly one of them. Think: Wes Montgomery. It's that guitar. That sound (well, in theory. He may have had a little something to do with that sound but you take our point).

Played acoustically, this guitar exhibits a loud, snappy, midrange-drenched voice that makes for a really satisfying playing experience before plugging in. Sometimes archtops that are designed for higher volume playing can feel a little overbuilt, heavy, and lifeless, but not so with this L-5 CES. To be sure it's at its best when plugged in, but it is a really lively, resonant instrument that's a blast to play just sitting on the couch sans amp.

Once plugged in, you're met with gorgeous midrange punch and sustain...again, that sound. Wes. We'll leave the playing up to you, but it delvers a fat-yet-defined, warm-yet-open sound. Really, really inspiring and perfect for seasoned or aspiring jazz players.

Condition: Excellent save for two scratches on the top near the guard (see pics), some very light tarnish on the tailpiece and pickup covers, and some light pick marks on the guard. It's pretty close to new otherwise.
