A collection of six boutique electric guitars lay artfully on a colorful rug in The Music Emporium's showroom.

Boutique Electric Guitars

A boutique electric is built in small numbers by a shop where the people making the guitars are the people who designed them. Some of these builders work alone. Some run a team of a dozen. What they share is that nothing leaves the bench without a person who knows the instrument signing off on it, and that they are free to make decisions a large factory cannot justify: a neck carved to one customer's hand, a body wood chosen from a specific board, a pickup wound for a specific guitar.

We are an authorized dealer for Collings (their largest dealer worldwide), Grosh, Novo, Powers Electric, Ron Thorn, Nik Huber, Koll, b3, Island Instruments, Frank Brothers, Lentz, Grez, Brondel, Thomas Rodriguez, Probett, and Josh Williams, to name a few. A lot of these guitars are one-offs from builders who make a few dozen guitars a year, which is why the page turns over as fast as it does.

Tell us what you are chasing and we will tell you which ones actually get you there and which ones do not. Some people work that out over the phone or by email and have the guitar shipped. Others drive in from across New England to line up four or five at our showroom, about 20 minutes from downtown Boston.
