This is a fine example of an early Mastertone with the classic snap and crackle familiar to early Bluegrass enthusiasts.
Lovely 1930 Gibson TB-3 converted to 5-string with original 40-hole raised tonering. Beautifully crafted neck (builder unknown) with nice color matching and expertly cut Style 3 Leaves & Bows inlay pattern. The hardware appears to be original with the exception of the tailpiece and replaced Rickard Cyclone planetary tuning machines. The serial number 3550-38 is clearly stamped on the rim and written in chalk on the resonator and the Gibson Mastertone gold label is very much intact on the inside rim.
The sound is fantastic as is the playability. This is a fine example of an early Mastertone with the classic snap and crackle familiar to early Bluegrass enthusiasts.
