In true early PRS fashion, this mid '89 Custom 24 rocks the desirable combination of a 10 Top, sweet switch, and the ever-popular Vintage Yellow finish. Examples like this are why we've seen PRS establish themselves as guitar giants alongside Fender and Gibson.
Marrying the slender, ergonomic feel of a great strat with the punchy authoritative voicing of an LP, the Custom 24 checks a lot of boxes for the discerning player looking for that "hybrid" solidbody.
The 10 Top really comes to life with the Vintage Yellow finish, showing off all that nice, tight flamed Maple. The chocolatey Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard is no slouch either, with nice ripples of figure particularly from the 5th fret down to the body joint.
The Classic T&B pickups deliver nice vintage warmth with strong output that makes these guitars so versatile. In conjunction with the sweet switch and the rotary selector you can go from thick and rich to lean and articulate with little effort.
This guitar has seen some consistent play time in its life while also remaining quite clean. The top shows some finish dimples and nicks surrounding the control area along with some pick wear on either side of the strings. There's some light buckle rash on the back of the guitar and on the trem cover. Frets show light to moderate wear, but have been cleaned up in-house to maximize playability. Strap lock buttons have replaced the original strap buttons. The original truss rod cover was missing when the guitar came in, but we acquired an accurate replacement which has been installed on the guitar.
The original case remains in solid condition with light to moderate exterior wear. All latches work, although the spring mechanisms on the outer latches are a bit flimsy.
