The Martin "New Yorkers" of the early to mid 1960's were an early attempt at what's come to be knows as a reissue. Capitalizing on the folk boom, and the popularity of the vintage small-bodied guitars played by Joan Baez and her contemporaries, Martin introduced 0 and 00 sized guitars with a stripped down, 1920's-style aesthetic and light build structure. Their sound is woody and direct, with a dry voice that makes a wonderful backdrop for singer-songwriters.
This particular 0-16NY has been played a lot during its life; and it's seen a couple of repairs as well. The guitar shows light overspray, which is old enough itself to show checking. An old, previously installed replacement saddle was replaced here in our shop. It's freshly setup and playing its best; and it'd make a great entryway into the world of vintage guitars for anyone interested in a versatile small-bodied instrument. Priced with period hardshell case. On consignment.
