Trillium cittern by Bob Abrams, a rare sighting in the shop!
On par with the fines of contemporary mandolin family instruments, this cittern in redwood and black walnut boasts a deeply resonant voice, expressive and balanced across its entire (ample!) frequency range.
Tasteful appointments abound: body, headstock, fingerboard bound in grained, ivoroid; a thin abalone rosette; ebony headstock overlay with a beautiful "Painted Trillium" floral inlay; Allen tailpiece in gold with matching Gotoh tuners.
While it sounds wonderful in its standard tuning (low to high C-G-D-A-E), it responds very well to dropped tunings too, and excels played up the neck with a capo.
A one-owner instrument from a highly respected maker no longer actively building, the Trillium will captivate the Celtic player, or any adventurous mandolinist interested in exploring longer scale lengths and lower registers. Priced with custom Cedar Creek case.
