Description
English luthier, Stefan Sobell, has a long history of building uniquely-voiced acoustic guitars that fall well outside traditional American flattop designs. This 1996 Thinline model is even more off the beaten path! Sobell incorporates a strongly arched top and back design and the shallow nature of the body accentuates that feature. If you're looking for a super comfortable, slim-bodied acoustic that doesn't compromise volume and power, this Model 0 is worth considering. Sobell's guitars consistently deliver a strong, clear tone that's on the drier, crisper side (think Lowden). The shallow body design of this model minimizes some of the overpowering bass response that can muddy the output, particularly in a plugged-in or live setting. The flat cutaway and D-shaped soundhole seem to reference Maccaferri (Gypsy) jazz guitars and the voicing does lend itself to this style of playing as well. Overall this is a very intriguing model that defies being pigeon-holed into any genre, with the exception of Bluegrass perhaps:-).
The condition is excellent with very little wear on the body or fretboard, including frets. The action is good. There's an early passive Highlander saddle transducer pickup installed.
