When's the last time you saw a Sycamore-bodied guitar? Wait...
When's the last time you saw a reclaimed Sycamore-bodied guitar that looked like this?
In what we'd consider one of the most unique Tomahawks to come through the shop since we started working with High Spirit, this short-scale double cutaway has some showstopping aesthetics. The figuring of the Sycamore has to be seen in person to truly appreciate it - elements of Lacewood and Spalted Maple with old Pine are present here. To add to the eye-catching look, Connor applied the smallest amount of his Copper Metallic finish to the clearcoat, resulting in what he calls "Copper Stardust". It's very hard to notice, but at certain angles and under lights, you catch glimpses of that metallic shimmer woven into the woodgrain. How cool is that?!?
Custom wound "Danger Dog" pickups are Connor's own take on a Fender-style wind, pushing things in a little bit of a brighter direction without losing nice fundamental depth. We hear them often as a hybrid between a great Strat and Jazzmaster pickup. The custom made bridge and tailpiece really speak to the dedication of the build and tie the whole aesthetic together beautifully.
Simply put, the Tomahawk models are fun, inviting guitars that offer simplicity without sacrificing tone and playability. At this price point, you might not find a better valued bolt-on electric on the market.
