The Healer model is BACK! One of our most favorite offset electric guitars in history continues to impress us with every batch we get here at TME. It's a testament to Trevor & Co.'s unwavering dedication to building a reliable, consistent, and inspiring guitar that has a distinct personality.
Healers seem to be so adaptive to different configurations without every losing their identity. That's hard to do in the seemingly endless landscape of electric guitar design, yet it feels effortlessly woven into every Healy build. Trevor would argue the effort part, surely, but that's why these guitars are just so darn great.
Roasted Pine and Maple make up the body and neck, respectively, while a set of Nate Lord's Ike split coil mini humbuckers combine with Chris Swope's Descendant vibrato bridge/tailpiece to present a tone and feel all its own. The bolt-on neck and long scale might start pulling you into a Jazzmaster headspace, but the Healer somehow seems more relaxed and forgiving in the best of ways. It's got a snappy response, but there's a warmth and woodiness to its acoustic voice that makes it quite unique, too.
Healy aesthetics are second-to-none as far as we're concerned. The contrast between the Inverness Green top finish, naturally ambered body/neck, and Rosewood fingerboard popping against that 3-ply parchment pickguard give this guitar incredible dimension without feeling too busy. The smaller details like black pickup surrounds and matching black Hofner "cupcake" knobs play off of the fingerboard so well.
A slim but comfortable C neck profile feels very familiar at this point, which highlights a level of consistency and intention on Trevor's part to establish an identity when it comes to the playability of these guitars. The moderate taper and rounded shoulders give the player the feeling of a neck more substantial than a set of calipers might tell you, yet it plays so smoothly. It's one of those instances (well, more than one at this point) where the guitar is just so dialed in that you start to forget about technical specs and focus on playing. We could all benefit from that mentality!
Now three years into our relationship with Healy Guitars, we couldn't be happier to represent such amazing instruments crafted in our home state by a passionate and talented team. They just keep getting better!
