Though we at TME weren't alive at the time, we grew up hearing the stories of the first time young guitar players heard Jimi Hendrix - how otherworldly, exciting, and damn near terrifying he sounded. While we missed out on that, sadly, we did have our own version by way of a (then) young player named Eddie Van Halen. The second the needle dropped on Eruption we, along with our entire generation, were forever changed.
Upon the news of Eddie's passing, we knew we had to do something in tribute. After a few conversations it become obvious what must be done, and who must build it - an EVH tribute Strat built by Don Grosh. Of course! Perfect.
Perfect indeed. Don masterfully captured the vibe of what we were going for - single slanted humbucker, single volume (which acts as a push/pull to split the humbucker), birdseye maple fingerboard that adds a touch of the worn fingerboard vibe on EVH's guitars, 2 post trem to capture a bit of the Floyd Rose abilities, locking vintage style tuners, done.
We quickly plugged in, cranked the gain (and volume), and dug in. Van Halen riffs were flying, laughter and smiles all around...what an incredibly cool, fun, badass guitar. This is a rock machine, plain and simple. The simplicity of this guitar recalls a great Esquire - only hot rodded. Did we mention how fun this guitar is? What a blast. Effortless playability, killer tones, world-class build quality - classic Grosh.
Condition: Excellent w/only light signs of prior ownership.
EVH vibes coupled with a one-of-a-kind Grosh? It doesn't get any cooler than this, folks. Priced with hardshell case.
