Description

As one of the most highly regarded mandolin makers in the world, Stephen Gilchrist's work needs little introduction. One strum of this Model 3 will confirm all your sonic expectations: the tone is open, the chop generous; single notes and double stops ring out with both fullness and, yes, bell-like chime. For the bluegrass player who doesn't "need" an F, this one has the sound in spades. As I was playing a few notes on it in the shop, a listener nearby commented, "the sound of that mandolin reminds me of champagne bubbles." An apt a description as any. Ally, thanks for the wine words.

Refretted in 2021, this Model 3 is setup beautifully, ready for stage, home or  studio.

Priced with Calton case.
