Fender Mustang, Olympic White (1967)
Mustang · Vintage
This Mustang has survived nearly 60 years in its original and unmodified state, including the frets! There was some evidence of old varnish overspray on the peghead and on the back of the neck, likely to protect some of the areas that were exhibiting lacquer wear. It was amateur work at best, and with some delicate cleaning here in our shop, we were able safely remove it without disturbing the lacquer. The back of the neck got treated with a thin french polish to re-establish smooth playability where overspray once had gunked up the feel. It's feeling and playing great! Notice all the nice birdseye figure in the Maple as well - it's always a treat to stumble onto a vintage Fender that's got some figured wood.
The original single coil pickups sound great - kind of like a light duty strat pickup in a way. Of course you've got access to some out-of-phase tones, which is one of things that makes Mustangs so fun to play.
Accompanied by an aftermarket hardshell case.
