Description

Pretty sure we had you at Sonic Blue...

Check out this new Honeycaster DC fresh from the shop of beloved Maine luthier Laurent Brondel! In his latest electric solidbody masterpiece, Laurent has opted for a more classic and vintage approach, highlighting some of the best features of an early 60s Stratocaster and elevating them with a modern level of playability and attention to detail.

Custom color fans will be sure to appreciate Laurent's take on the venerable Sonic Blue finish, which is respectfully and lightly aged to mimic that of a 60 year old closet classic. The hand-shaped and highly figured birdseye maple neck features an ultra slim yet inviting profile reminiscent of some of those classic early 60s neck shapes. The velvety chocolate Madagascar Rosewood fingerboard combined with stainless steel Jescar frets and a 10" radius injects some of that aforementioned modern build approach to maximize playability up and down the neck.

A hybrid set of Ron Ellis's pickups combine some of the best elements of prototypical strat tones from the 50s and 60s into one guitar, providing a distinctively fatter and more robust mid/late 50s style bridge pickup with the brighter, edgier winds in the middle and neck positions that were commonly found in many mid 60s strats. The resulting tones are harmonically rich and responsive, rewarding great right hand touch with dynamic range, clarity, and definition.

While it may favor a more traditional aesthetic, this Honeycaster DC is built with a level of refinement and versatility that could easily go toe-to-toe with some of the most revered boutique electric guitar builders of our day.
