Oh my....what have we here?? The first "Drum Top" semi-hollow Phoenix from the good folks at b3 Guitars? Yes. Please.
Drum top? The Champagne Sparkle top on this Phoenix V is a very thin veneer that is similar to what Gretsch might use on their drum kits, except it is over a solid Korina top vs a maple drum shell. The results are stunning and fear not - it doesn't negatively impact the tone in any way, it just looks amazing, especially pared with the brown stained Black Limba back and neck. Yowza!
We're thrilled to see Gene Baker and his crew expanding their already versatile Phoenix line with the introduction of a semi-hollowbody version. Designed to be a Firebird dressed up in more comfortable Telecaster clothing, the Phoenix V is a powerhouse of player-centric design. From the super comfy Standard C (.83"-.96") neck carve to the fast neck-through heel construction, to the gorgeous sounding Lollar pickups (Special T and Lollar'Tron) with a versatile wiring scheme (volume, tone - push/pull, 5-way), to the rock solid hardware and beautiful finish work, it's familiar yet versatile and 100% soulful and inspiring.
If you're in the market for a high-performance, modern leaning guitar that's still got vintage vibe, feel, tone, and attitude? Click that add to cart button before someone beats you to it! An amazing guitar, period. Priced with hardshell case.
