Talk with any Martin Guitar historian or collector and they'll agree that the Golden year for D-28s was 1937. The D-28 Authentic 1937 is a faithful homage to that classic dreadnought complete with Adirondack spruce top and forward-shifted, hand-scalloped x-bracing. In place of Brazilian rosewood, Martin is using their very select Madagascar rosewood to help capture the strength and brilliance of those earlier guitars. The result is a superbly voiced dreadnought with tons of power, that coveted dry woody tone and a responsiveness that is hard to find in a modern guitar.
