These punchy, raw sounding guitars are praised by flatpickers taking up the style of Mother Maybelle Carter.
This Waterloo WL-AT archtop is just in on trade! Rarely available, the WL-AT is Waterloo's interpretation of a 1930's style 14" wide archtop (14 13/16", to be precise). These punchy, raw sounding guitars are praised by flatpickers taking up the style of Mother Maybelle Carter; and they make wonderful lead instruments in a duo setting (think Dave Rawlings to Gillian Welch's flattop). This "Scissortail" variant of the WL-AT pays homage to the Kalamazoo "Oriole," with Maple back and sides and a natural finish in place of the standard Mahogany / Sunburst theme. As far as Waterloo archtops go, this is a very rare guitar (only three were made when Collings was producing them regularly).
As far as condition is concerned ... while this guitar has been played, it remains in very good overall condition, with only minimal signs of previous handling. The surfaces are clean and smooth ~ free of any significant cosmetic blemishes. The frets and fingerboard are similarly clean, and the original setup remains in excellent stature. Priced with its original hardshell case. Expedited shipping only at online checkout; please contact us for Ground options.
