If you've always considered getting a Tele-style guitar but wish you could find one that's a bit more refined? This is your guitar.
If you're deep into the boutique electric world you likely already know Michael Tuttle's name and guitars. If not, Michael is an extraordinary builder who's background includes time at both Valley Arts Guitars as well as Don Grosh Guitars.
While Michael's reputation is firmly, and rightfully, centered around his flawless fretwork (typically with stainless frets), his instruments are more than just great fret jobs and are truly as good as it gets. Take for example, oh I dunno, this killer Mary Kay Daphne Blue Classic T.
Featuring a 1-piece Ash body, roasted maple neck, Michael's own pickups & bridge with mixed saddles for optimal balance in the twang department, the Tuned T feels immediately comfortable when you first sit down with it. This is largely due to it's perfect 7.05 pound weight and C neck carve. The oiled finish coupled with a 12" radius and aforementioned ridiculously well done stainless frets make this roasted maple neck a true joy to play on. Unlike some Tele-style guitars, there is an excessive amount of "fight" in this guitar - it goes with you wherever you decide to take it and only seems to work with you, not against you.
Plugged in? These guitars sound incredible. Having a mini-humbucker in the neck position is such a great call on Michael's part. It's still clear and open but just has a bit more push to it than a standard Tele neck pickup. And the bridge pickup? Fantastic. Not an ice-pick tone to be found, but plenty of muscular twang.
