An exquisite, violin-styled round hole octave mandolin for the modern player.

Why We Love This

We absolutely love the sound, feel, and the incredible aesthetic of Patrick Toole's mandolin-family instruments. His Celtic octave mandolin features violin-grade tonewoods on a large, rounded teardrop body with overhung edges and a circular soundhole, finished in a thin oil varnish. The neck carve and overall geometry of this octave make for remarkably easy playability, with or without the capo. As octave mandolins go, this one is as full and potent a sound as we have come across, full stop.

Despite the classic violin styling, in many ways Patrick's instruments are actually quite forward looking. For the fingerboard and bridge he employs Sonowood, a Swiss made, sustainable wood, and for the tuners, Patrick worked with Rubner to spec out a very elegant, custom four-on-a-plate tuner set that sets a new standard in modern mandolin tuners. All in all a total jewel of an octave.
