Stefan Sobell is well-known for crafting many of the citterns, bouzoukis and mandolin-family instruments popular among musicians of the 60's and 70's British folk revival. But as we see here, he also builds a beautiful guitar. This 1999 Model 1 Sicilian comes to us on consignment, and is based off a design that would later evolve into the Martin Simpson Signature Model. While its specs are a little different than that current model, much like its successor, it's a guitar designed for fingerstyle and vocal accompaniment, beloved by players like Darrell Scott and Mark Knopfler. Stefan's design, choice of European spruce soundboard, cocobolo back and sides, and a very thin lacquer finish all come together for a guitar that has a beautifully crisp, ringing voice. Well-cared for by its previous owner, it remains in excellent condition. Priced with pre-installed Fishman Acoustic Matrix active pickup and its original Calton case.
