In a testament to just how good Glenn Nichols' finish work is - has the finish foreman at Santa Cruz guitars for close to a decade - when we popped the case on this gorgeous Aged Goldtop Lexington in the shop, someone unfamiliar with this guitar asked, "Whoa! What year is that from?" Mission accomplished if you're fooling folks into thinking this is a vintage guitar, right?

If you're unfamiliar with the Retrograde Lexington, this is a single-cutaway solidbody electric with hand-wound Retrograde P90 pickups, hand applied finish, and an aesthetic true to the "catalog-style" aesthetic Glenn is going for.

This guitar excels at a range of tones from fat clean to fuzzed-out (the added Varitone expands the options), offering great clarity and a natural compression that is nothing short of addictive for those who live for nuance and responsiveness. This is a Blues, Motown, and R&B machine that is also equally capable of playing in the Punk/Indie/Southern Rock sandbox. 

A comfortable medium profile neck with a smooth taper makes playability a breeze, with the slightly thinner slab body lending itself to quite a comfortable lapped or strapped guitar. The neck and body are exquisitely finished, which is no surprise given Glenn's background in finish work.
