This 1975 Martin D-45 is the very definition of a player's guitar (and not necessarily in the way we're currently accustomed to using that label). This instrument belonged to a local bluegrass guitarist, who also sang in some of the Northeast's most legendary outfits over the last 50 years (while that's admittedly niche, we still think it's important and gives this guitar a soul). Said guitarist also owned a 1940's herringbone, but had always coveted a D-45; and when he could finally afford one in 1975, he bought one. This is a lovely sounding guitar, with openness aplenty from years of use, and a particularly complex tone for a 1970's Martin. We also really dig the way it looks, with nicely checked finish and perfectly aged binding alongside the greened-out abalone trim.
Condition: this guitar is all-original, except for a replacement tortoise pickguard (an improvement, if you ask us). The neck has just been reset in our shop; and no prior work had been done to the guitar. The finish exhibits consistent checking across all the guitar's surfaces (please see our photos for detailed closeups). As mentioned, this guitar has been played, so expect to find pick wear, dings, scratches, etc. It's not a guitar for anyone demanding mint condition, but it is a guitar for anyone who's longed for a great-sounding D-45 and values pride of ownership and sound above all else. Priced with Martin thermoplastic hard case. Expedited shipping only at online checkout; please contact us for Ground options and an in-hand description.
