Back in 2018, Martin Custom Shop had a a robust stash of Madagascar rosewood and they'd bring a bunch of sets to the NAMM show where dealers could fight each other over the best sets. While we were not the original sellers of this glorious D-42, I distinctly remember coveting set very much like this AAA Mad Rose in a competitor's hands. And now it's right back where it belongs, in our shop! But probably not for long.
While not the fanciest of Martin's models, this 42-style dreadnought has just the right amount of bling married with some very tasteful koa wood bindings. It all organically comes together into a masterpiece of understated elegance: wood, wire, a bit of pearl, "a jug of wine, a loaf of bread and thou."
