This Martin D-18 Authentic 1939 VTS Aged is just into the shop on trade! The 1939 variant of the D-18 Authentic incorporates the key features of a post-1938 "pre-war" Martin -- most notably, a rear-shifted X brace and a narrower, 1 11/16" nut width. The rear-X platform provides an arguably more balanced voice, tempering the boominess of a 1937-style guitar without sacrificing low end power and presence. This particular guitar is screamingly loud when played aggressively with a flatpick; and it exhibits the beautiful, woody sound of a broken-in guitar that's had its initial brightness played off.
Condition: this guitar is built with Martin's "Stage 1 Aged" finish, and shows the lacquer checking and play wear associated with that option. All the faux pick scrapes, dings, etc., are native to the guitar. The previous owner took very good care of it; and it's been freshly set up in our shop. A strap button has been added to the neck heel. Please call us for an in-hand description if you're curious about any element of the guitar's appearance. Priced with its original hard case.
