Why We Love This
We sold this Martin D-18 Authentic 1939 Aged when it was new, and the original owner has just left it with us for consignment. The Martin "Aged" Authentics boast an unrivaled woody power, which comes closer to the sound of the 1930's grails than anything else on the market. This particular guitar has been played, but remains in excellent condition (and with the factory distressed finish, it'd be hard to tell if any new scratches had been added by its owner).
The features which set this "1939" model apart from other iterations of the D-18 Authentic are the narrower, 1 11/16" nut width, and the rear-shifted X brace. Players who favor a tighter string spacing will no doubt be attracted to this guitar's combination of horsepower and sleekness of feel. And the rear-shifted X results in a slightly more balanced tone, as opposed to the boominess of a forward-X guitar. Price includes the guitar's original Harptone hard case.
Please note: used instruments are, well, used. We pride ourselves on thoroughly vetting, and carefully photographing, each pre-owned instrument we sell, but many of them carry subtle signs of handling that can escape even the most discerning eye. If you have questions about the condition of this instrument, we invite you to call us for an in-hand description. We're here to help!
