Someone is going to love this 1946 Martin 0-18. While it's strictly in the player-grade category, its tone-per-pound ratio far outweighs anything else you'd put it up against. Recently acquired by TME, it was brought to us by a gentleman who said he'd owned it "more than 40 years" and hadn't ever done anything to it. As you can imagine, after that much time untouched, it needed the works; but it's now playing beautifully and sounding fantastic! Let's repeat that last point so it doesn't get lost: this is truly a wonderful-sounding little guitar, with the dry-yet-rich vintage Martin wonder (and more significant bass than you'd expect from a tapered-braced small-bodied guitar). It sparkles gorgeously when fingerpicked, and has more than enough spitfire to stand out in an old-time jam.
Condition: as vintage guitars go, this one has been brought back to good playing shape by Glenn Nichols in the TME repair shop. The body of this guitar was refinished long ago (we can assume at least 40+ years ago, judging by the owner's stated history as its caretaker). Thankfully, the original pickguard was kept; and it's been reapplied in our shop, where a neck reset and refret were also performed. Older Grover Rotomatic tuners were on the guitar when we acquired it; and those have been replaced with modern open-back machines. While this isn't a guitar for a collector, it's a sleeper of a great-sounding one for a player waiting to break into the vintage Martin market at an attainable price point. Priced with the non-original hard case which had been used by the previous owner.
