Looking for your first - or last - Tele? This is a hell of a place to start. Simply a fantastic vintage-style Tele that leaves nothing to be desired - except to purchase another Lentz asap.
This guitar is really loud acoustically with excellent resonance and sustain. We happily played it for 15 minutes before even thinking of plugging in and had a blast (that's the sign of a great guitar, right?).
Plugged in? The bridge pickup sounds like a P90 crossed with a Tele and has such a powerful, twangy, chimey tone - perfect for chicken pickin', rock, or blues, where you want the pickup to do some of the work for you vs you hitting as hard as you can. The neck pickup is warm and round, but never mushy or wooly. It pairs really well with the bridge and ultimately gets you into classic Tele tone-land, albeit slightly hotter (which we dig).
The fit and finish are exactly what we've come to expect from Lentz. Each element of the guitar is perfectly executed but doesn't sacrifice the soul or feel of the guitar in the process. It's not perfection for perfection's sake. It's perfection that comes from a deep understanding, respect, and love for what Leo Fender did so many decades back. Such a cool thing to experience in a guitar and no doubt what contributes to the legendary feel, tone, and soul of a Lentz guitar.
