No matter how many guitars we've owned - vintage, boutique, expensive, student model, rare, commonplace - we're always drawn to the student model guitars. Harmony, Silvertone, Melody Makers...there's something about these guitars that is just fun, right? Nothing precious, no rare this or that, just musical, tone-filled, fun guitars. But...

...but, yeah, we know. They're not always well made or setup well. True. Enter: the Koll Super Cub. It has that student model DNA in it, but, it's in an incredibly well made guitar that sets up beautifully. We're not talking just looks here, either re:student model. Sure, the Super Cub has an undeniably cool vibe like a lot of those guitars, but we're really talking about the vibe, the feel, the "personality" of the guitar itself. It feels like one of those student model guitars in all the best ways possible.

Thin body, lightweight, resonant, and lively, the Super Cub sports a medium C carve that is really comfortable and will appeal to a wide range of players - it lives somewhere between a Gretsch Duo Jet and a Les Paul Special. Coupled with the impeccable fretwork, this Super Cub plays beautifully and feels fast and nimble.

We have a guess as to what you're thinking at this point - what's the story with those pickups?! They are Curtis Novak GT-V's and they sound incredible. The tones we pulled from this guitar were muscular, full of chime, and excelled at both clean and overdriven tones. Fender, Vox, Marshall-style amps, it sounded amazing through every one. They can do lighter pick/finger-picking playing and can take a beating when you want to turn up the amp.

While the inspiration for the Koll Super Cub comes from 60s American guitars like an Epiphone Wilshire, Harmony Bobkat, and Gibson Melody Maker, the Super Cub is a far more elegant build - though it still retains the feel and vibe of those classics. Take that vibe and put it into a superbly crafted guitar and you'll get where this guitar is coming from. Read: you want this. Priced with hardshell case.
