It's rare to encounter such an original, and beautifully executed, guitar design like Saul Koll's "Glide" series guitars.
There's an organic, made-by-hand feel to this unique Saul Koll creation. Originally custom ordered directly from Saul, we reached out to Saul for the backstory and he kindly sent us the following...
"I remember building that one. It's from '09. I remember it because of the Les Paul-like control layout, the color, and the pickguard. Normal Jr Glide and Jr/Specials have either two or three knobs, and usually the selector is in the lower bout. This one was ordered custom with the Gibson LP layout.
Also the guard is very much like a Les Paul special, again at the customer's request. He wanted a more Gibsony kinda thing. Basically he wanted a LP special but built in the Glide shape.
The color too is unique. He wanted the basic brown/walnut Gibson color, maybe like Bob Marley had. But the bridge has been changed to a wrap, this originally had a trapeze bridge. Gotoh SD-90 tuners, Fralin P-90s.
The scale is 24.625", nut 1 11/16", mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard. Clear nitrocellulose lacquer over walnut grainfill."
This guitar is perfect for almost any style of music (save for the extreme / high gain variety) and inspires hours of play.
