JamCity Guitars 1957 Gibson Les Paul Special to '59 Burst Conversion (USED)
Vintage
Burst conversion veterans JamCity Guitars knocked it out of the park with this '57 Les Paul Special conversion to '59 Burst specs. Killer Flamed Maple top with Florance PAF style humbuckers!
What To Know
Vintage Gibson conversions have long been a way for players and enthusiasts to get into a "Burst"-esque type of guitar without paying the ever-growing premium for the real deal. Often times these conversion specialists will take the husk of a player-grade or compromised vintage guitar and use it as the basis for converting it to the heralded 1958-1960 Gibson LP spec.In this case, we've got a 1957 Gibson Les Paul Special that has been lovingly converted by Jim Weyandt and JamCity Guitars in Ohio. the conversion includes a reworking of the original neck tenon, installation of an arched Maple cap atop the original slab Mahogany body, along with a new Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard and complete vintage-style refinish. The result is pretty stunning if we say so.
Outfitted with a set of Peter Florance Voodoo PAF style humbuckers, the tone and response follows the lineage of those original Burst LPs faithfully, with great clarity and sweetness that can roar with the best of them into a cooking amp or with a great overdrive. The perfectly installed and well dressed jumbo frets offer enhanced playability as well.
Overall, it's a fantastic example of a Burst conversion that captures a lot of the vintage vibe, feel, and tone that modern interpretations can't quite achieve.
