Description
Our latest Red Tail Hawk has arrived, and it features a gorgeous sunburst finish, stunning highly figured Birdseye Maple neck, along with a set of the newly designed Danger Dog pickups.
The Red Tail Hawk is a short-scale offset reminiscent of that old Fender favorite, but with a dash of some 60s Hagstrom and Guyatone vibes thrown in. Sleek contours combined with slightly pointed horns give the Red Tail Hawk its own unique silhouette. The thin body is super comfortable seated or strapped, and relieves some weight that some of the larger offset solidbodies can sometimes carry.
The slim carve C neck - one of three carves offered by High Spirit - is reminiscent of some of our favorite early and mid 60s Fullerton offsets. Comfortable and quick with a nice taper, but not too small. This particular neck shows off some incredible figured Birdseye Maple as well, and the satin finish provides a silky, worn-in feel.
This guitar features a set of the new Danger Dog pickups, which lean more towards a classic Fender single coil but with a touch more output. Plenty of nice clarity and chime for clean tones, and enough low mids and midrange to provide some fatter overdriven tones without losing definition.
Rounding out the hardware is a custom machined High Spirit bridge and saddle set with a Goeldo tremolo unit. The Goeldo has a similar feel to a Jaguar/Jazzmaster tremolo with the smoothness of a Mastery, offering great adjustability to suit the player's playing style and needs.
We're so impressed with these guitars and we think you'll be as well. If you're looking for a unique electric with truly custom-made appointments and small-shop attention to detail, don't let this one pass you by.
