Description

Some mandolins are built to cut down a banjo at a ten-foot distance. Played on their own, at times some of those mandolins can leave you wanting. Other mandolins breathe a little easier, and offer up real musicality with every pick stroke. This Henderson Master Model A falls squarely in that latter category. Henderson may be more well known for his world-class flattop guitars, but this A-style is evidence that it is, indeed, possible to master two domains.

Melodies, chords, double-stop tremolo lines just sound right on this mandolin There is healthy, airy thump underneath the low strings, and a rounded, appealing openness to the treble strings. The engraved mini fleur-de-lis headstock and thin, responsive top speak to a handmade elegance, while a player-friendly neck, slightly radiused fingerboard with scooped extension hint at the inviting playing experience that awaits. A musician's mandolin, and a gem at that.

Priced with Hiscox hard case.
