Based in the Hudson Valley, Chihoe Hahn has spent the last few decades quietly building a reputation for making some of the best T-style guitars you can buy. Not only is Chihoe known for his incredibly musical, extremely high quality builds, he also makes his own hardware that "like our guitars, strive to provide clarity, warmth, balance, dynamic range and, in a word, musicality."
Chihoe's Strat-style guitars are quite a bit more rare than his Tele-styles, made even more so in this case - this 229 used to belong to the one and only Walter Becker, founder of Steely Dan. Sold as part of Walter's estate sale a few years back, it has remained uncirculated until now.
Walter's ownership aside - but let's be real, that's a really cool part of this guitar's story - this is a phenomenal Strat-style guitar by any measure. The build quality is really high and immediately apparent when you pick it up...the setup and playability are perfect/effortless...the tones are incredible. It goes without saying, but if Walter saw fit to purchase this one....good enough for us!
Condition: Very good+...there are light dings and scuffs on the body, the high E string's tuner is slightly bent but still 100% functional, and there's a number 10 sticker on the side of the headstock (denoting to Walter's tech what string gauge to install - very cool).
If you're a Steely Dan fan, you know what to do. We can assure you, you won't be disappointed. Priced with molded plastic hardshell case.
