Description
Our latest guitar from CA-based Grez Guitars is an incredible Mendocino Junior. TME regulars have likely seen Barry's Mendocino model, a super cool, really musical chambered body electric. The Mendocino Junior represents Barry's venture into solidbody electrics, and the results are phenomenal.
When a guitar's specs are as simple as what you find on a Junior style guitar - a single P90, bridge, volume/tone, and the body and neck - all of these components need to be top-notch in order to achieve something special. It's safe to say that Grez knocked it clear out of the park in this regard...
1 piece Redwood body from a wine tank (the dark back of the guitar was the inside of the tank, hence why it's a touch darker); Honduran mahogany neck; Wolfetone Meaner P90; Mojoaxe Bridge; 500K volume pot, 250K tone, .022uf NOS PIO cap; Walnut knobs.
The results?
A 5lb 4oz knockout. Chimey, muscular, open, articulate, punchy....this is a featherweight that punches like a Mack Truck. The chunky C carve is incredibly comfortable and easy to play on - we think a wide swath of players will love this carve. Most importantly? This thing is just a blast to play. There's really nothing we don't like about it just to get to the point.
Looking for a straight-forward, incredibly musical guitar that'll keep you up an extra hour at night because you don't want to put it down? This is your guitar. Priced w/a Reunion Blues gig bag.
