We could not be happier to announce the release of the new Grez Mendocino Bass! When Barry @ Grez told us he was building a bass....please, take our money! We've always loved the lightweight, balanced, beautiful sounding and playing Mendocino model and the idea of a short-scale bass version sounded amazing to us.
Suffice it to say, we were not disappointed in the bass Mendocino - the results are spectacular. Like the 6-string Mendocino, the bass model is incredibly lightweight, balanced, and very alive and resonant. This bass is a blast to play, period.
Speaking of tones, the Curtis Novak Lipstick Pickups are a perfect match for this semi-hollow bass. Open, airy, fat yet articulate, no muddy tones to be had....Plugged into a Aguilar head/cab, there's both an articulation and fatness to the tone that reminds us of a Jerry Jones or vintage Danelectro bass. It's ultimately incredibly fun and inspiring, which for our money, is 100% the point.
If you're looking for a new bass that's both beautiful, alive, a blast to play - and - made by a luthier with an eye towards sustainability? You need to check out the new Mendocino Bass.
