Whether filling out the mandolin orchestra or providing the low end in an acoustic Americana jam, there is nothing quite like the rich, authoritative voice of a 110-year old Gibson mandocello!
K-2 mandocellos are rare enough as it is. A great sounding, player-grade instrument is all the sweeter a find! This mandocello has seen just two homes over the last 40+ years, having seen years of service in a mandolin orchestra.
This is a great example, one of the better sounding mandocellos we have had come through the shop. A well repaired, very old headstock crack, replacement clamshell tailpiece, light fretwear, and honest play wear are the important condition notes.
Maybe you are inspired by Mike Marshall's arrangements of Bach's magnificent solo cello works (very much worth a listen!) or just looking to hear chords and fiddle tunes in sumptuously low registers. If you have been on the hunt for one of these instruments, and not in need of an "all original" collector-grade find, this is a wonderful sounding example sure to deliver tonally.
