Those magical Reischman, Marshall mando tones we all love—with its wide open, deep resonance, this Loar will help get you in the ballpark.

Just getting your hands one a single Loar is an absolute coup and, for us at least, a serious life highlight. As it happens, we are listing two simultaneously! We are full into mando tasting high heaven over here, and we invite you to join the fun!

This F-5, signed by Lloyd Loar on December 1st, 1924, has an uncanny, wide open character, with a big, expansive low end and a warm, super pleasing voice. It still has ample enough projection to work in a band context, but as a solo or small-ensemble mandolin, it would be hard to fathom a more inspiring instrument.

Like our '23 Loar, this mandolin has survived remarkably well with no cracks. Original, transitional-era tuners with replacement buttons; refretted. Original, well worn finish, normal wear.
