Listen to any iconic 60's acoustic rock tune and chances are you're hearing the sounds of a classic Gibson guitar and primarily one made with Maple back and sides.
So much of that 60's sound was derived from the warm, studio-friendly tone that only Maple can deliver. Certainly there were plenty of Rosewood-bodied Martin dreads in the mix as well. There's just an achingly familiar sound when one strums a 60's Gibson that can transport the player back in time 60 years.
This late 1960's Dove carries some of that magic, albeit in a somewhat subdued form. Gibson was a making a slightly heavier, stiffer guitar in 1969 than when this guitar was introduced a few years earlier. But a lot of that warm, maple sound is still there.
Condition is very good and all original. There are two repaired top cracks below the bridge area and some finish deterioration on the back of the neck near the 9th fret, possibly due to Naugahyde strap migration. Action is excellent as are the original frets.
