The Fender Telecaster and Stratocaster have certainly earned their place in music history amongst guitar players, but ask any bass player and they'll tell you that the launch of the Fender Precision "P" Bass in 1951 - the first commercially successful solidbody electric bass - changed everything.
This Vintage Custom '57 Precision Bass exemplifies the flagship design that has carried the torch for the electric bass for so many years on stages and on the greatest recordings of all time. This venerable model year introduced the now-familiar split double-rectangular humbucker pickup, the larger Strat-style headstock and the Three-color Sunburst finish. The body is constructed of two-piece hand-selected alder and is finished in NOS lacquer. The one-piece quartersawn maple neck has a '57 "soft V" profile, 7.25"-radius fingerboard and 20 medium vintage (47095) frets.
A hand-wound '57 P Bass pickup delivers perfect vintage low-end thump and is wired to master volume and tone controls. Other features include a vintage-accurate single-ply gold anodized pickguard, four-saddle vintage-style bass bridge, vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut and a disc string tree. Includes deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.
