Undoubtedly one of the finest sounding and looking vintage Princeton Reverbs we've had in the shop, this one is sure to satisfy any player looking for top tier Blackface Fender tone.
Why We Love This
A phenomenal sounding example of one of the earliest production Princeton Reverbs, this legendary pre-CBS Fender combo proves just how unbeatable these tone machines are in their class.
This first-year Princeton Reverb rolled off the assembly line in December 1964 and has remained in excellent condition since. In true pre-CBS fashion, it features the original 'no logo' grill cloth along with the 'FEIC' nomenclature that would give way to 'FMI' in 1965.
It has been lovingly maintained by a professional musician for the last handful of years, preserving all of the critical tone components like original transformers and signal caps, while having filter and bias caps replaced along with the addition of a 3-prong power cord. The original speaker - while included - is boxed up in favor of a newer Jupiter M10C speaker, which honestly sounds perfect in this amp. The Jupiter pulls influence from great early Jensen C10N speakers while balancing out low ands mids, keeping things a little tighter sounding for better overdriven tone. The presence of great old tubes is also making a difference here, providing some nice sparkle, definition, and harmonic richness to the tone that only great old tubes seem to be able to deliver.
On top of this amp being in wonderful physical and operating condition, it comes paired up with a nice padded slipcover for extra protection.
