As diehard Strat fans, we're so used to playing traditional tremolo-loaded Strats that when we encounter a hardtail Strat it's a revelation every single time - hardtail Strats are amazing!
There's something special about a hardtail Strat. Perhaps they embody a little more Telecaster in terms of responsiveness, string tension, etc...whatever it is, we love it. And let's face it - 95% of Strat players "deck" their bridge anyway, right? Why not go all the way and ditch the trem completely?
This Limited Edition Troposphere hardtail Strat has definitely earned some fans at the shop with its super resonant 2-piece Alder body, a fantastic '57 soft V neck carve, compound radius (7.25"-9.5"), and a set of beautiful sounding hand-wired Troposhere pickups...and it weighs 6lbs 14oz!
Aside from the hardtail bridge, the star of the show here - well, co-star alongside the ultra comfy neck - are the pickups. Developed by master builder Paul Waller, the Tropo pickups deliver classic underwound Strat tones - snappy, twangy, touch sensitive, beautiful 2 and 4 position tones. Again, we're huge Strat fans here at the shop and this checks all the boxes for us tonally. Not sure what else you'd want a Strat to do!
