Do not adjust your screen. Repeat, do not adjust your screen. Yes, this Tele has 5 strings because....Keef!
Sure, we’ve had our punchy days at the shop, but this isn’t one of them—we promise. No, you’re not seeing things: this Custom Shop Telecaster has only five strings. Why? Because it’s been setup and lightly modded to honor Keith Richards’ iconic 5-string Tele. If it’s good enough for Keef, it’s more than good enough for us.
And let’s be real—it’s an absolute blast to play. Whether you drop the A string to G or dive fully into an open tuning, this Tele produces chords and riffs that sound massive, effortlessly channeling the mojo of Keith’s legendary tone.
Originally built by Fender in 2018 as a limited '51 Telecaster, this guitar features a Seymour Duncan SH-55 humbucker in the neck and a Crushed Blackguard bridge pickup. Fender’s clever use of a dual-stack potentiometer ensures the humbucker delivers clarity and openness while the bridge pickup avoids shrillness. The result? A tonal setup that’s versatile and perfectly balanced.
The relic’d maple neck boasts a comfy 10/56 V profile (.94-.97"), paired with a 7 1/4"-9 1/2" radius and Jescar 50085 frets. Together, these specs deliver a vintage-leaning feel that’s pure joy to play.
If you’re a Keith fan—and honestly, who isn’t—or just in the market for a stellar Tele, this one hits all the right notes. Low E string optional.
