A fantastic Custom Shop Telecaster that sounds a touch more refined and punchy than you typically expect from a Tele. Yes, that's a good thing.
To our ears and hands, Teles come in two basic flavors. Now keep in mind we're using a healthy dose of 30K foot thinking here. The two flavors are: raw, twangy, brash and bright. Classic Bakersfield stuff. The other flavor leans heavier in the refined, rounded top-end, fatter, punchier...Perhaps you've noticed this difference after trying out a bunch of Teles? Just us?
We mention this to give you an idea of where this fantastic '50s Telecaster is coming from - it's in the 2nd category. Plugged in, the tones are punchy, fat, slightly compressed, while retaining a Fender's iconic clarity and top-end response. Acoustically, its snappy and lively. Simply put, it's a really great sounding guitar.
Its even taper, '54 Strat Soft V (.99-.99") feels great in-hand. Yes, those measurements sound big, unwieldy even, but it doesn't feel that way in-hand. It's shaped really well, with a little less shoulder than you'd find on an early 50s style neck, and sports a 9 1/2" radius which makes it easier to manage - bending is a breeze as is chord work.
